The corona treatment roller is a specialized device for static elimination and surface treatment. It utilizes corona discharge phenomenon to effectively remove static by exciting gas molecules through high-voltage electric fields, creating an ionization layer that forms corona plasma for surface cleaning, etching, and treatment applications.

CPP Corona Treatment Roller Working Principle

Plastic films require surface treatment to increase their low surface tension for better bonding with printing inks or vacuum aluminum coatings. Among various treatment methods (corona, chemical, mechanical roughening, coating, flame), corona treatment is the most widely used.

The process involves applying high-frequency, high-voltage power between a metal electrode and the corona roller (typically made of high-temperature resistant, ozone-resistant silicone rubber). This generates discharge that ionizes air to produce ozone while high-energy electric sparks activate the film surface, increasing its surface energy:

Increases polyolefin film surface tension to 38 dynes/cm
Boosts polyester film surface tension to 52-56 dynes/cm or higher
